Solar Energy Installation And Residential Solar Power Systems
Solar energy installation can be installed by an expert but with the right guidance any reasonable handyman could install them himself with a little assistance from friends or neighbours.
Solar Panel Installation
Panels are usually mounted on the roof of a building. However, they can be placed on a stand-alone rack if necessary. The distance between mounts should be about 48 inches and they should be placed in a straight line.
The mount should never be attached directly to the plywood sheathing of the roof. Panels should be placed at a location where the sun shines for the longest duration each day. This is important because they tend to lose their efficiency even in partially shaded areas.
The direction in which the panels are facing is also very important in solar energy installation. South is best, east or west is the second best choice; north is not an option. However, you will need more panels to generate the same amount of energy if they are facing east or west.
Before installation, make sure that you have the necessary building permits. Find out about building requirements from your local building or zoning department.
Tilt the panels according to the latitude for maximum sunlight exposure. Panels installed at 0 to 15 degrees latitude should be tilted 15 degrees. The tilt is same as the latitude for 15 to 25 degrees. For each additional five degrees of latitude up to 40 degrees, an extra 5 degrees of tilt should be added to the latitude. At 40 degrees and above, 20 degrees of tilt is added to the latitude.
Mounts should be placed directly on top of a rafter. A block of wood can be used if a rafter is not available. However solar panels can also be preassembled in groups which makes it easier and quicker to install them, because you have less individual units to deal with when on the roof and a lot of the initial work can be carried out on the ground with some assistance from friends.

My cat is going to the vets…what can i do?
I just rescued a stray cat and I am taking her to the vets tomorrow (Wednesday) to get spayed and to have her shots done. She will be there all day (from 8am-7pm) Is there anything i can do to prep her for the surgery? What about things to make her more comfortable after surgery?

Have her a quiet place to rest and some food and water. She’ll be fine after a day or so. She’ll just need to rest at first. I have heard not to feed them but last week I had my male and female both fixed and they ate that morning before I took them. The vet didn’t mention anything about it. I’m so glad you’re doing this. Love to kitty! ♥

Have you ever wondered how plastic or PVC sleeving is applied to wire cables?
PVC Sleeving is usually rated by its expansion ratio, the comparative of the differences in expansion and recovery rate. The main use of PVC sleeving is to insulate wires offering abrasion resistance and environmental protection for conductors, connections, joints and terminals and so forth in electrical applications. You can also use it to repair wires, bundle wires together, and protect wires or small parts from minor abrasion.
What is it made of?
Heat shrink sleeving is often manufactured from thermoplastic materials such as polyolefin, PVC, neoprene, silicone elastomer and Viton.
How is it used?
The PVC sleeve is placed over the connection to be protected and then heated with a hot air gun or similar tool. This is not the only method with skill a soldering iron or the heat from a cigarette lighter can be used. If overheated, heat shrink sleeving can melt, scorch or catch fire so care is needed. These processes cause the sleeving to contract from one third to one sixth of its original diameter, providing a snug fit over irregularly shaped joints. This provides good electrical insulation, protection from foreign materials such as dust and solvents, and can also provide strain relief.
As previously mentioned some types of heat shrink sleeving contain a layer of glue or more technically thermoplastic adhesive on the inside to help provide a good seal and better adhesion, while cheaper versions rely purely on friction. Additional heating plain, non-adhesive shrink sleeve to very near the melting point can make it fuse with the underlying material as well.
It is not just limited to wire cables, it can also be used to coat fibre optic cables for protection from the elements.

Why does my fire wire HDD show only half the actual capacity?
Hitachi 320 Gb HDD in Fire wire external enclosure. In Disk management console, the disk shows only 128Gb.
The drive is probably partitioned and you are only looking at one side.
Open “My Computer” and look at your list of drives. There is probably the second half of a drive there you are not seeing. It is the other partition. Double click to open it.
